Eclias

Eclias is a remote colony planet in the Eclias system within the Delta Kingdom. It serves as a crucial mining outpost as it's known for its rich Theorium deposits, which play a vital role in the Delta Kingdom's economy.

Planetary characteristics

Eclias is a rocky, airless world approximately 1.2PU in diameter. It orbits Eclias Prime, a B9 III star with a temperature of approximately 11,000 K. The intense radiation from Eclias Prime necessitates advanced shielding for all colonial operations on the planet's surface.

The planet's most notable feature is its high concentration of Theorium in the crust, making it a valuable asset to the Delta Kingdom. The lack of atmosphere and harsh surface conditions mean that all habitation and mining operations must be conducted from pressurised environments.

Mining operations

Mining on Eclias is carried out through a network of pressurised habitats connected to mining channels that extend into the planet's crust. As these channels deepen, the pressure within them decreases, requiring careful management of atmospheric systems to prevent catastrophic decompression.

Miners and engineers must exercise extreme caution when approaching natural cave systems, as breaching these without proper preparation can lead to rapid loss of atmosphere. The mining process involves a delicate balance between maximising Theorium extraction and maintaining the structural integrity of the pressurised network.

Colonial history and function

Originally established as a mining colony, Eclias quickly became a key site for the implementation of Delta's eugenic programs. The planet houses facilities dedicated to selective breeding and genetic research, reflecting the Delta's commitment to their vision of genetic superiority.

In addition to its role in resource extraction and eugenic research, Eclias serves as a strategic military outpost, allowing the Delta Kingdom to project power across their territories more effectively.

Society and governance

Eclias is governed under strict Delta control, with a rigid caste system in place. However, recent galactic developments have led to a cautious integration of other species into the workforce, albeit under close supervision to maintain what the Delta consider genetic "purity".

The society on Eclias reflects the broader tensions within the Delta Kingdom between preserving traditional values and adapting to changing interstellar dynamics. Despite these subtle shifts, Eclias remains a potent symbol of Delta's commitment to genetic superiority and authoritarian rule.

The continued importance of Eclias to the Delta Kingdom is ensured by its Theorium resources, which play a crucial role in maintaining the empire's economic and technological edge in the galactic arena.
