Emac

Emac is a figure-eight configured Ring World orbiting the binary star system HD 294571, located in the outer territories of the Ring Worlds. Notable for its unique pulsar-harvesting technology and extensive mining operations, it stands as one of the most profitable privately-owned habitats in known space. The station is controlled by the Ygrith family, prominent members of the Ring Dweller society.

Technical Specifications

The station consists of two interconnected rings, each measuring 42 kilometres in diameter, forming a distinctive figure-eight configuration. This design, pioneered by Chief Engineer Valyn Ygrith in -5, enables the structure to maintain optimal positioning between the system's twin K-class stars. The exterior hull incorporates proprietary pulsar-absorption technology, developed by Ygrith engineers, which converts high-energy radiation into usable power.

The primary ring houses mining operations and industrial facilities, while the secondary ring contains residential areas and ecological habitats. The station's population fluctuates between 180,000 and 250,000 inhabitants, depending on mining contract cycles.

Economic Significance

Emac serves as the primary resource extraction facility in the HD 294571 system, processing approximately 3.8 million metric tonnes of rare earth elements annually. The station's unique energy generation capabilities, combining traditional solar collection with pulsar radiation harvesting, produce an estimated 892 terawatts of power per standard day, making it the largest energy producer in the sector.

The Ygrith family maintains strict control over all commercial operations through their corporate entity, Ygrith Holdings, which holds exclusive mining rights throughout the system.

Environmental Systems

Despite its industrial focus, Emac maintains several sophisticated ecological zones featuring thermo-tropic flora adapted to the station's elevated ambient temperature. These biological systems, while primarily functional for atmospheric processing, have become tourist attractions in their own right. The "Burning Gardens," as they are commonly known, contain the largest collection of heat-resistant plant species outside of the Sundom of Eris.
